Work isn’t hard when you feel valued. At Southern, we believe every team member is family and should be treated with dignity and respect.
Finding your “work family” takes time, but when it happens, it’s magical. We love to hear about the ways our team members connect with each other year after year. As a family-owned business, we’re committed to further building a community — not just a company — because we know it’s our people who make Southern a great place to work.
Southern has always been owned by the same family. For more than half a century, we have worked alongside our team members and community to build a company we can all be proud of. We think that’s part of what makes us so special, and it’s not something we plan on changing anytime soon.
With so many tenured team members, it’s common to be surrounded by people who have spent decades with Southern and teams who have spent just as long working together. Working here often feels like working with family. In fact, sometimes you are working with family, and we think that says something, too.
Southern’s competitive hospitality, corporate and residential benefits packages provide for team members and their loved ones. Excellent health care at competitive rates, maternity leave, adoption assistance and generous leave packages are in place to ensure your family has everything they need to thrive. Furthermore, team member discounts on expenses such as rent, utilities and purchases at many national retailers mean you can spend more of your hard-earned money on those who matter most.
Family comes first. From adoption assistance to the Raising Stars scholarship, we have several ways to help support your family because we know they are what matter most.
Children of our team members get benefits, too. Our Raising Stars Scholarship is awarded to children of team members for tuition to a university, college or trade school to ensure they have the chance to set themselves up for success and achieve their dreams in the process.
We understand the value of spending quality time with loved ones. Our annual Family Fun Day gives team members a chance to bond with their home and work families at the same time. Many of our volunteer events are family friendly, too. Children can be seen running 5K charity races alongside their parents or fixing up homes during Christmas in April. At Southern, we know family comes first.
